Genae Girard, Mentor/Trainer

Genae Girard learned first-hand the effects of stress through the life-changing diagnosis of breast cancer in July of
2006.. A self-proclaimed over-achieving type-A personality, Genae has always taken on her goals and won. In 1994, at
the young age of 26, Genae started a veterinary distributorship located in Central Texas. During the 13 years with the
company, it was listed for three consecutive years in the Austin Business Journal's "50 Fastest Growing Private
Companies", and  #82 on the Inc. 500 list of "America 's Fastest Growing Private Companies". And then she got her
    diagnosis and everything changed.
As a top CEO, she did what any senior executive responsible for the lives of everyone who worked for her – she took the next several
months off to understand what happened so she could solve the problem. Three years later, she has created a program reducing stress in
the analytical "Type-A" personality. It teaches executives "switches" to turn off stress and anxiety, which are responsible for a multitude of
health problems and which, ultimately, take away from the corporate bottom line.
Her book is being published for release in January 2010; her experience has attracted significant attention. Genae is now fighting the U.S.
patent office for granting Myriad Genetics Laboratories, Inc. a patent on the breast cancer genes BRAC1 and BRAC2 as a plaintiff for the
ACLU's widely publicized case. She has been featured in numerous news programs, magazines, and radio shows such as:  NY Times, CBS
News, USA Today, and World Magazine.  In January 2010, she will be appearing in an interview on 60 Minutes discussing a lawsuit about
gene patenting.  Her humorous, real-world portrayal of getting through the trauma and recovery from breast cancer, as well as her zest as a
patient advocate, has landed her the role of Stress Reduction Mentor and Speaker for many organizations.
In her spare time she maintains her passion for painting acrylics (www.BowWowArt.com) and donates many of her custom dog paintings to
charities, which raises funds for animal shelters and local breast cancer groups.
